The Foreign Relations Commission (CRE) approved the initiative of senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) for the creation of the Brazil-OECD Parliamentary Group (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development \u2013 PRS 30\/2020). The creation of the parliamentary group now only needs the approval of the Senate Steering Committee for it to be effective.<\/p>\n
The focus of the Brazil-OECD Parliamentary Group will be on exchanges and information exchange aimed at combating corruption, money laundering and public policy partnerships in the area of security. Also according to the draft resolution, the idea aims to develop direct bilateral relations between the National Congress and the OECD, with a focus on participation in the Global Parliamentary Network, a parliamentary body linked to the OECD. Another focus will be to implement technical cooperation.<\/p>\n
The report approving the creation of this group was made by senator Fl\u00e1vio Arns (PSB-PR), and read by senator Astronauta Marcos Pontes (PL-SP). The text highlights the relevance that the OECD gives to Brazil, despite the country not yet being part of the bloc.<\/p>\n
\u2014 In recent years, the bilateral relationship has benefited from the decision taken by the OECD to strengthen ties with emerging nations, considering Brazil, among others, as 'key partners'. Today, practically all ministries and many federal and state public administration bodies in Brazil are involved in cooperation with the OECD.
